Led By The Spirit

"For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law."
Galatians 5:17-18

Beloved, there is so much talk these days about being driven by purpose, that it is almost surreal. Being driven by purpose is not scriptural. We are led by the Spirit, who leads and guides us gently, according to His Word. In this world, there is a system that pulls on our flesh, that wants to seduce our flesh into "buying into" its own ways. This is of the devil. The sheep who belong to the Shepherd, know His voice, and are led by that voice, not driven along by some corporate, world of business, purpose. The Word today tells us that our flesh lusts against the Spirit. Our flesh is so pulled by this world, and the systems of this world, that it is in opposition of being led by the Spirit. The ways of this world, this pulling against our flesh, is in direct conflict with what the Spirit of God wants to do in our lives. He wants to bring about a change in us, where we don't pursue or follow after the things of this world, or even hang on to the life we knew before Him. In the next few verses, Paul will talk about the things that are in the life of those who will not inherit the kingdom of God. But right after that, he will tell us about the fruit of the Spirit. There is so much comfort in that. I used to think that it was a list of things that I could never attain, and to a point, I am correct. I can never produce those things in my own life. It has to be the Spirit. The Spirit produces the change in us. It is the Spirit who produces the fruit in our lives. There is so much comfort in that.

Beloved, this day, allow the Holy Spirit of God to lead you and guide you. The Word says He will guide you into all truth. Allow Him to do that today, and follow Him. Don't worry about the world and its values and systems. It will not last. Only the things of God will last for eternity. Beloved, don't be driven by purpose, which is not Biblical, but be led by the Holy Spirit of God, which is what God wants for your life. Shalom.
